I am just back from a quick climbing trip to the alps with Viv Scott. We made the most of good autumn conditions to climb the Croz Spur on the north face of Grandes Jorasses. (The major spur in the center right of the photo above). It was a long route, we had one biv below the face, one about 4/5th to the top and another half way down the other side. It snowed a little on the walk in, but luckily we had prints to follow to find the base. A good day getting most of the way up, but was caught by bad weather near the top on the second day. We resorted to some aid climbing to get up the final difficult mixed pitch and topped out in some pretty awful weather. We got a fair way down before stopping for an unpleasant bivvy, getting buried by a foot of snow overnight. Then a long, snowy descent down into Italy. Was a great experience, got to do some good hard climbing and spend time on a famous north wall. Cheers Viv.

But the top one of the face is not mine. It was snowing when we walked in and we never actually saw the mountain before we climbed it. Thus I stole someone else photot to show what it looked like.
