Oldies weekend away

It was time for a jaunt to the north west. Jo B organised a wild camping trip centred around a Saturday evening meal at the Glenuig Inn. It was a brilliant excuse for us all to get our toys out, mine is a new camera!

I captured our drive through Glencoe and this brilliant view from Ruth's cottage, that some of us sheltered in on the Friday night.
On Sat we drove to Glenfinnan for a looky at Bonnie Prince Charlie and the steam train made famous in Harry Potter.

After collecting a few more peeps we proceeded to bimble up a brilliant hill called 'Streap'.

Here is a good looking lunch rock!

For some people, the summit just wasn't high enough!

Suzy agreed to pose for this one, it was worth back-tracking a bit.

We were on a schedule to meet at the Inn at 6p.m. so as not to get Jo B in trouble with the propietor... but when we raced there we found that she and the others were still paddelling! We set up camp well away from the all-night rave [!] that was taking place in the Glenuig Village Hall, and met them as they came in, then raced to the pub.
Nice camp spot, the midges thought so too.

Sunday, not too hung over, I got up for a 'swim' and joined the kayaking crew for the day. We took the boats back accross the bay and around the Sound of Arisaig via this amazing hidden, but popular beach.

We saw curious seals and interesting birds and had brilliant luck with the tide, wind and weather in general. It was a great day, and after the whole weekend we had a pretty good all round body workout!

I'd love to go back to Arisaig, the coast is so varied and full of wildlife. Next time I'll take my camera!
