Climbing in the NW

Last weekend I went up to the NW corner of Scotland for some rock-climbing with Viv, Jess and Raph. A long drive, but worth it awaking in a beautiful, wild area. The land was rolling, flat and open, grassy and boggy, with steep rocky hills, lakes, islands and nice sandstine cliffs to play on. The first day we climbed on Stac Pollaidh, a picturesque wee hill, with some very pleasnt 2-pitch climbs with a stunning backdrop. The next day Viv and i headed for some sea-cliffs at Reiff. Short but varied and interesting routes. I need to get stronger to play this game. British trad climbing is well more developed than in NZ. May open my eyes a bit when I go back I feel. I also got introduced to Scotland's version of the sandfly, the midge. Smaller, more numerous and more annoying. Well I learned to cope with sandflies, lets hope I can manage the same.

Did you hire a helicopter to take the pictures? :)

There's a stair case on the other side isn't there!

Ahh, I sniff, as the whiff of jealousy bubbles from the cyber-swamp.

Hi patrick, how's things?
