Burn's Belter

Robbie Burns is a famous Scottish poet and it was his birthday on the 25 Jan. Traditionally Scots celebrate his birthday by eating haggis, neeps and tatties and saying long, undecipherable speeches and slashing a knife at the steaming meal, and of course drinking whisky!

So we did all that. With the help of our excellent hostess, Helen, who’s address to the haggis was so well spoke that I began to understand its meaning. Instead of slashing the haggis open with a Skean Dhu she used a Japanese training sword, which was all she had to hand at the time! Hilarious.
We all enjoyed our fabulous meal and skipped down to the Assembley Rooms to partake in a ceilidh, [scottish country dancing] It was a brilliant night out.
